I was fortunate enough to be placed on skis around the time I began to walk and I still enjoy it as much as I did then. Growing up, I was placed in a variety of competitive sports including basketball, volleyball, hockey, tennis and soccer. I wasn’t until I began competitive boxing that I realized how demanding a sport can be both physically and mentally and how important good coaching and guidance could be. The demands of making weight for a bout (which at times included losing 7 pounds in the sauna), dealing with pre-fight nerves, and the desire to keep training after a tough loss were just some of the challenges my coach and I faced together. After all these challenges and preparation, winning bouts and tournaments became that much sweeter. This is the type of trainer and coach that I strive to be; someone to give direction, and more importantly, motivation so that a client can go above and beyond their set goals. I truly believe that health and wellness should be viewed as more than just physical, but mental and spiritual as well. Healthy living is not just a phase, but a lifestyle that anyone can enjoy. I understand that a busy schedule means that healthy behaviours are often placed on the backburner, so helping people make the best use of their time in reaching their goals is very important and satisfying for me. | |
