Columbia Lake members love to get involved in their community. We support a variety of charities that help promote healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. A full listing of this month's events are located on our newsletter.

Spring Challenge
We are inviting all our corporate members to join our Spring Corporate Fitness Challenge. Here is all you have to do:

  • Register your team
  • Walk/run over your lunch hours as many days as you like
  • Visit the Front Desk before each walk to pick up your pedometer and return it after each walk so we can track your distance travelled
  • The corporate team that completes the farthest average distance will win a great prize
  • Earn extra points by brining non-members, walking at least 3 times a week or doubling your team size in 30 days!

Past Events

Grand River Hospital Fundraiser - April 2009 During the month of April we sold raffle tickets for a daffodil painting by Paula White Diamond. All proceeds were donated to the Grand River Hospital Cancer Center.

Run For Heartwood Place - February 2009
Members of Columbia Lake joined Karin McMillan in her run to raise $50,000 for Heartwood Place.

February 26th, 2009 Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament
90+ poker players played in our Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament. Proceeds went to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. Thanks to Tim Jackson for all of his support!

November 24th-December 24th 2008 "12 Days of Fitmas" Challenge
Congratulations to all members who completed the 12 Days of Fitmas Challenge!

Charity BBQ for Breast Cancer October 7th, 2008
All proceeds have been donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.

"Exercise and Accessorize" September 23rd, 2008
Lots of our members and non-members joined us for our “Exercise and Accessorize” open house. They were able to purchase the latest fitness gear, sample gourmet foods, receive free hand treatments, learn what’s new in the cosmetic/spa industry and shop for accessories

Member Charity BBQ June 19th, 2008
$2,000 was raised for the KW Community Foundation.

Laurelwood Ladies Spin-a-thon June 14th, 2008
We were pleased to host the Laurelwood Ladies in their "Weekend To End Breast Cancer." Participants in our spin-a-thon had a great workout and made a great contribution.

Spin-a-thon May 10th, 2008
Our amazing personal trainer Meredith Stockie and her fiance Scott set a goal to raise $50,000 towards research for cancer. We had 200 participants in this fabulous event. Thanks to all our instructors for volunteering their time for a great ride.

Grand Lifestyle Show May 3rd-4th, 2008

Celebrate being "Younger Next Year" with Mr. Chris Crowley March 1st, 2008
Chris gave an energetic talk about the importance of leading a healthy and active life and making this your job as you get older. Hundreds of people attended to listen to him speak and get their books signed.

Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament February 19th, 2008
Located in TechTown, we helped raise $4,000 for the Waterloo Region Food Bank. Thanks to Tim Jackson and his group and the CLHC staff for making this a great success. We’re planning on hosting another one next year.
