Lester P.Like everyone else I lead a hectic life. I work out of town and have 3 kids. I decided in January 2007 to make my health a priority since I was feeling tired, stressed and weighed almost 390lbs. I joined CLHC when they first opened as it was close to home. When I first started to workout, I just did cardio thinking that was how to lose the most weight. After some research I learned that I should include weight training into my routine. I was doing it the old school way - big weights and big reps until I met Will, a trainer at the gym. He said to incorporate a circuit program into my routine. I realize that you need to keep changing your program so your body does not get used to the workout. Over the past year I have lost over 100lbs, I’m more flexible and fitter. I have lost the weight slowly to ensure I do not get other health problems associated with rapid weight loss. I can move easier and everyday activities are not as challenging. A lot has changed since I joined the club. I am healthier, happier and lighter. One thing that has not changed is the staff - they always make me feel welcome. Going to the gym is part of my life now, it has to be for me to live longer and stay healthy. My goal weight is 230lbs and I know the staff at Columbia Lake Health Club will be encouraging me.Mary H.My Personal Training experience at CLHC has indeed been a positive one, I'd like to explain if I may. Last year my husband and I joined CLHC, it was expensive for us but very convenient as it is close to home. Being in our fifties we were both feeling our age and felt the need to work on our level of fitness or lack thereof. I have never been a gym member anywhere before and seeing the big room was very overwhelming, so I spent a few months doing time on the treadmill and bike in the women's only area. I got to the stage where I was bored but challenged enough to want to do more and try different things...but what and how? A friend recommended the trainer who had helped her and the timing was right so I signed up for 6 training sessions. This morning I was in to the club early. I started with some cardio to warm up, did a full upper body workout with weights and some machines, more cardio to finish then a shower and off to work feeling refreshed and ready for the day. I love it! I have gained knowledge, understanding and a confidence in what I am doing. Having the trainer to guide, inform and encourage me has made a world of difference to me, in fact had I not begun the training sessions I question whether I would still be a member at all. Thanks for listening.
